Rum Cake

I wasn’t planning on doing two Bundt cakes so close together but Rum Cake was mentioned by my sister-in-law and I just happen to have an occasion to make it.
The ladies I fed this too agreed is that it’s a winner and I sent the rest of the cake home with my sister-in-law

Rum Cake


1 box yellow cake mix, unprepared
1 pack vanilla instant pudding, unprepared
4 eggs
1/2c light rum ( I actually used a spiced rum because that’s what I had)
1/2c water
1/2c veg oil

1 stick butter or margarine
1c sugar
1/4c rum
1/4c water

Beat all the cake ingredients together for 2-3 minutes. Grease and flour (I use a pan release paste that’s equal parts flour, shortening and oil) sprinkle the bottom of the pan with nuts. Bake at 325 for 50-60 minutes

For the glaze gently melt butter over low then add all other ingredients and turn temp to medium. Boil for 2-3 minutes. Pour half of the glaze over the cake while in the pan. Wait 10 minutes to let the cake absorb. Turn cake out into plate and pour over the rest of the glaze OR brush on the glaze every 5 minutes until it’s all used
