Are these actually Finnish? The internet has no answer for me but I can confirm they are super tasty. I did modify the cooking time for these patties because the grated potato was still a little firm on the first batch. So, if you make these know to not make them too thick. Serve these however you like, we went classic mashed potatoes (even with potatoes in the patties) and broccoli. I will certainly make these again and possibly try them with ground turkey since I only really eat red meat if it involves this project.

Finnish Beef Patties
Ingredients
Patties
1lb ground beef
1 1/2c grated potato, raw
1/4c minced onion
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2c milk
1/4c butter
Gravy
1/4c butter
1/4c flour
2c Milk
Instructions
For the beef patties mix together the ground beef, potato, onion, egg, salt, pepper and milk until well combined but not overworked. Divide into 12 portions and form into 1/2 inch thick patties. Melt 1/4c butter in a skillet over low heat and cook patties for *12-15 minutes, flipping halfway. This may require cooking in batches. Set the patties aside and start the gravy. DO NOT WIPE OUT THE PAN. The drippings give the gravy flavor.
For the gravy melt the butter in the same skillet and and whisk in the flour, cooking for about 1 minute. Slowly whisk in the milk and bring to a simmer. Cook over low heat for about 5 minutes or until the gravy has thickened to your liking. Serve over the beef patties. Serves 4-6.
*I suggest tasting a patty to confirm the potato is cooked and if its not, cover with foil during half of the cooking time to give it some help
