Brown Sugar Frosting

Brown sugar frosting recipe card

This is 100% easier than the caramel frosting I used on the Jam cake and has a similar taste. The internet suggested pairing this with fall flavors which I agree with so I chose a spice cake. That being said I will be making a chocolate cake in the future just to couple with this brown sugar frosting. There were definitely not enough people to share this dessert with, it was so good and didn’t last long in our house. So use this on a spice, pumpkin, apple, chocolate, vanilla, or whatever flavor you desire just give this a try and you will not regret it.

Brown Sugar Frosting

Ingredients*
1 stick of butter or margarine
1c brown sugar
1/4c milk
4c powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
In a medium-sized saucepan, over medium heat melt the butter. Once melted add the brown sugar and bring to a rolling boil for 2 minutes. Add the milk then and bring back to a boil for a few seconds. Let the mixture cool completely (this could take hours so plan accordingly) before adding the powdered sugar and vanilla and beating with an electric mixer. If frosting is too stiff add a little milk at a time until you reach the consistency you like.

*Depending on the size of your cake you may want to double or triple the recipe. I doubled the recipe to generously but simply frost a 2 layer cake. If I wanted to do some piping or decoration I would triple the batch.
